Georgiadis on OPEKEPE case files: “Direct political interference in the country – A strange and unacceptable practice.”

“The institution of the European Public Prosecutor’s Office is new and perhaps it has not yet found its footing; however, as a practice it is both strange and unacceptable, and you cannot fail to see it,” Mr. Adonis Georgiadis characteristically states.

This text does not merely aim at political criticism, but at exposing a deeper institutional decay. It highlights the conflict between power and accountability, reminding us that no matter how dominant a situation may seem, history remains open and unpredictable.
Well, yes. Such ‘disturbances’ from the EU in a country with an absolutely corrupt government are entirely unacceptable—a government that can buy votes with Union funds, reward senior or supreme judges with offices, and keep the lower-ranking ones in its pocket, since 80% of the Greek judiciary either fully embraces or shares the ideological tenets of such a government.
And then the European prosecutor comes along to spoil this fragrant soup. Reeking of decay for the rest of us, yet sweet-smelling for those creeping along the curbs of Nazism—figures like that minister of Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
Adonis, you haven’t seen anything yet. Especially if the ‘phony’ Left one day realizes its sacrilege in “playing with things that must not be played with.” Then you may be sure that prison cells might open for your kind. And then you will see how much bile you will spew and what screams you will let out—to the delight of honest and prudent Greeks. Times do change, ridiculous—among other things—Adonis.
