1. Για 36η χρονιά γιορτάζεται σήμερα, 1η Οκτωβρίου, η Παγκόσμια Ημέρα των Ηλικιωμένων γνωστή και ως «Παγκόσμια Ημέρα για την Τρίτη Ηλικία», που ορίστηκε από τη Γενική Συνέλευση του ΟΗΕ το 1990.
Σύμφωνα με στοιχεία του Παγκόσμιου Οργανισμού Υγείας για τους ηλικιωμένους, το 2000 ζούσαν σε όλο τον πλανήτη 600 εκατομμύρια άνθρωποι ηλικίας άνω των 60 ετών. Υπολογίζεται ότι μέχρι το 2050 θα έχουν ξεπεράσει τα 2 δισεκατομμύρια.

Οι ανθρωποφάγοι των Μέσων παραπληροφόρησης, όταν αναφέρονται σε άτομα πάνω από 60 που δεν έχουν την …τύχη να είναι γνωστοί ή σελέμπριτι , αποκαλούνται συλλήβδην… ηλικιωμένοι ή με το νούμερο ηλικίας και το συνθετικό -χρονος Σαν βρισιά, απαξίωση, υποτίμηση. Π,χ «90χρονη οδηγούσε στο αντίθετο ρεύμα κυκλοφορίας». ΄Η «Το αέριο από το διαμέρισμα των ηλικιωμένων στην Πλάκα φαίνεται να προξένησε την έκρηξη που στοίχισε τη ζωή στους άτυχους τουρίστες» . Πάντα με υπονοούμενο -τί θέλουν και ζουν οι γέροι για να κάνουν τη ζωή του κόσμου δύσκολη;
Αναλώσιμο είδος και ως τέτοιο βάρος στα πόδια του…εργατικού δυναμικού που τροφοδοτεί την οικονομία. Σε αντίθεση με τους συνταξιούχους που τρώνε τα έτοιμα (διάβαζε αυτά που τους κρατούσαν στα 40 χρόνια δουλειάς) και που συνήθως δεν προλαβαίνουν να χαρούν ούτε τα μισά από τα «δεδουλευμένα» .

The cannibals of the mass disinformation media, when referring to individuals over 60 who do not have the… good fortune of being famous or celebrities, call them collectively… “elderly” or by their age number combined with the suffix “-year-old.” Like an insult, a dismissal, a deprecation. For example, “A 90-year-old woman was driving against traffic.” Or “Gas from the apartment of the elderly couple in Plaka seems to have caused the explosion that cost the lives of the unfortunate tourists.” Always with an innuendo: what do old people want to live for anyway, only to make everyone else’s life difficult?
A disposable commodity, and as such, a dead weight to the feet of the… workforce that fuels the economy. In contrast to the pensioners who “live off pre-existing funds” (read: the money withheld from them during their 40 years of work) and who usually don’t even manage to enjoy half of their “hard-earned dues.”
Nature, however, has provided for this as well. Before they can even say “Jack Robinson” [or: in the blink of an eye], their detractors grow old too. And so the cycle goes…
