Να, γιατί με  βλέπω να ζητάω πολιτικό άσυλο στην…Τουρκία. Αλλά δεν μπορώ  και να μην το πω/ Why I Might Just Find Myself Seeking Political Asylum in… Turkey. But I Simply Cannot Hold It In

Φιντάν για Κυπριακό: Η ιδανική λύση είναι η αναγνώριση δύο κρατών.

“Δεν αναγνωρίζουμε τον ελληνοκυπριακό τομέα ως κράτος”, είπε. “Αν εσείς δεν αναγνωρίζετε τα δικαιώματα των Τουρκοκυπρίων, δεν θα αναγνωρίσω ούτε την ύπαρξη του κράτους σας, γιατί δεν είστε το κράτος που ιδρύθηκε το 1960”. 

Fidan on Cyprus: The ideal solution is the recognition of two states

“We do not recognize the Greek Cypriot sector as a state,” he said. “If you do not recognize the rights of the Turkish Cypriots, I will not recognize the existence of your state either, because you are not the state that was founded in 1960”.

“Δηλαδή, μια δομή όπου τόσο οι Έλληνες όσο και οι Τούρκοι έχουν τα δικά τους κράτη, και αυτά τα δύο κράτη συνυπάρχουν ειρηνικά και αρμονικά στο νησί, συμβάλλοντας τόσο στην ευημερία του νησιού όσο και στην ειρήνη και τη σταθερότητα της περιοχής. Αυτή είναι η θέση μας», πρόσθεσε εν συνεχεία.

“That is, a structure where both Greeks and Turks have their own states, and these two states coexist peacefully and harmoniously on the island, contributing both to the prosperity of the island and to the peace and stability of the region. This is our position,” he added.

Να πω ότι είμαι Ερντογανικός;  ΄Απαγε της βλασφημίας.  Τουρκόφιλος;  Ασφαλώς  και είμαι.  ΄Οσο   και Αλβανόφιλος και Γαλλόφιλος . Και… μην τον  ψάχνετε, γιατί είμαι  φίλος πάσης φυλής, έθνους και χώρας. Επειδή, ακριβώς,  δεν πιστεύω  στην ανάγκη ύπαρξης  εθνών , πατρίδων  και συνόρων.

Είναι κι  αυτός ένας   λόγος που μπορώ να διακρίνω το δίκιο, όταν το έχει η Τουρκία ή  η  δική μου χώρα που την αγαπώ, επειδή έτυχε να με… υιοθετήσει . Δοθέντος και  ειρήσθω εν παρόδω, πως βιολογικά   παιδιά   ιθαγενών και αυτόχθονων  δεν υπάρχουν. Κι αν υπάρχουν, μετά από τόσους αιώνες   συμβίωσης και..συνεύρεσης   έχει “ξεβάψει”  το αίμα.

Και εν προκειμένω , πού στα κομμάτια έχει άδικο ο Φιντάν για το Κυπριακό; Δε θα ήταν η ιδανικότερη λύση αυτή που προτείνει; Δε θέλουμε  το ίδιο και για το Ισραήλ και την Παλαιστίνη;  Για κάθε λαό,  εθνότητα., συλλογικότητα και  ομάδα. Ο καθένας  δεν πρέπει να έχει   «πού την κεφαλήν κλίναι,» μια   γωνιά να απλώσει ήσυχος   και τούτος τα ποδάρια του;  Πού είναι το άδικο  σε  όσα υποστηρίζει για την ειρηνική συνύπαρξη των δύο λαών στην Κύπρο  ο  Τούρκος υπουργός Εξωτερικών;  Και γιατί εμείς που το στηρίζουμε δεν είμαστε πατριώτες;        ________

To say I am a supporter of Erdogan? Heaven forbid. A Turkophile? Absolutely, I am. Just as much as I am an Albanophile or a Francophile. And… don’t bother looking further, because I am a friend to every race, nation, and country. Precisely because I do not believe in the necessity of nations, homelands, and borders.

This is also why I can recognize what is right, whether it’s on Turkey’s side or my own country’s—which I love, simply because it happened to… adopt me. Given, and by the way, that biological children of indigenous and native populations do not exist. And even if they do, after so many centuries of cohabitation and… intimacy, the bloodlines have long faded.

And in this case, where on earth is Fidan wrong about the Cyprus issue? Wouldn’t the solution he proposes be the most ideal? Don’t we want the exact same thing for Israel and Palestine? For every people, ethnicity, community, and group. Shouldn’t everyone have “a place to lay their head,” a corner where they too can finally stretch out in peace? What is unfair about what the Turkish Foreign Minister supports regarding the peaceful coexistence of the two peoples in Cyprus? And why are we, who support it, not considered patriots?
